Set against the vibrant and dangerous backdrop of New Orleans during Mardi Gras, the story follows Fiona O'Connor and Lorna Moore, two low-ranking civil servants working for the city's vampire administration. Nicknamed the "Travel Agency," their department is responsible for welcoming visiting vampires, enforcing regulations, and ensuring that the existence of the undead remains hidden from the human world.
But what begins as a routine assignment involving a newly turned vampire quickly spirals into a far more perilous investigation. As political tensions rise and dissident groups challenge the authority of Jerome Alarie, the powerful Duque who rules the city's supernatural community, Fiona and Lorna uncover a web of disappearances, conspiracies, and long-buried secrets.
