REPRESENTING GRAPHIC NOVELS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD
Ramón de la Fuente
Santander, 1931 - Barcelona, 1984

Ramón de la Fuente was the second of the De la Fuente brothers to pursue an artistic career, following in the footsteps of his older brother Victor and his younger brother Chiqui. He began his career by illustrating cinema posters and designing covers for the Madrid-based publishing house Dólar.
He later moved to Barcelona, where he worked with the publishing house Bruguera and the Selecciones Ilustradas agency. Through the latter, he spent twelve years drawing World War II comics for Fleetway in England and DC Thompson in Scotland. He was subsequently commissioned by the publishing house AFHA to create a comic-book adaptation of Treasure Island.
Further commissions soon followed, primarily involving comic adaptations of works by Jules Verne, which were published and translated throughout Europe. Sadly, his career was cut short by a cruel disease, which claimed his life prematurely when he was at the height of his success.
