The Thousand Faces of Jack the Ripper
Art by: José Ortiz
Script by: Antonio Segura
Originally published in instalments in the magazine Creepy from 1984 to 1985, the narrative revolves around Jack the Ripper, the murderer who spread terror across London for ten weeks and who hasn't been identified to this day.
In a series of short stories Segura & Ortiz play with that fact, imagining a Jack who could have been a policeman, a beggar, a sailor, a member of the bourgeoisie or even a woman.
An enduring classic that speaks to us of the darkness of the human soul and is one of the most powerful interpretations of Jack the Ripper. It moves away from the historical character, to show us that evil can nestle in the depths of our hearts.
Key points:
Ortiz employs varying perspectives, the stark contrast between light and dark as well as a sense of brutality in his impressive blanck and white illlustrations
A classic in the history of Spanish comics
