The Soldadera

Art by: Enrique Breccia

Written by: Walter Slavich

A compilation of twenty episodes which were first published in Italy in the pages of Lanciostory magazine between 1995 and 1996. They were later republished in book form in Italy and recently in Argentina by Deux Studio (2023).

The term “soldadera” refers to women who accompanied or actively participated in the Mexican Revolution, providing various services such as fighting on the front lines, cooking meals, satisfying soldiers sexually, healing and caring for them, spying, and transporting information and/or weapons, not always voluntarily. Soldadera, to put it simply, was a woman who followed soldiers in the Mexican Revolution.

But the "soldadera" in the title is following a soldier to kill him, because the bastard left her standing at the altar to join Pancho Villa's troops.
