The Pilgrim of the Stars

Art by: Enrique Breccia

Written by: Carlos Trillo

This work brings together the most outstanding collaboration of Carlos Trillo and Enrique Breccia. First published in the Argentine magazine Skorpia in 1979, it was republished in Italy by Alagalla in 2010 and in Spain by Dolmen in 2023.

When the crew of the Peregrine is about to mutiny against their captain, he is saved at the last moment by a gigantic hole in the sea that seems to have grabbed the ship, pulling it toward itself and threatening to swallow everyone on board. But determined to go down with his ship, Captain Conrad and his only two loyal sailors remain on board, preferring a quick death in the abyss to the slow agony of starving in a drifting boat. However, death does not come, as the abyss transports them on what will be the strangest journey of their lives, sailing through the void of a universe with few possibilities of returning home.

Key points:

  • A journey through a fictional and scattered geography that wanders between metaphors about the human race and its contradictions

  • At the crossroads between reality (a classic maritime adventure) and science-fiction, El Peregrino de las Estrellas is a story born of a culture, a country and a bygone era, and a perfect occasion to explore Trillo's socio- political concerns, magnificently depicted by the master Breccia
