Euskadi in flames & Gorka Gudari

Art by: Antonio Hernández Palacios

Written by: Antonio Hernández Palacios

1936. Conflict spreads like wildfire across the Basque Country and Navarre, and no one can stop it.

The story takes us to these men who are going to live through the day-to-day reality of a war they neither wanted nor planned, and from which many of them will not return. Gorka is in Pamplona at the beginning of this war. He will be both a witness and a participant in the Basque conflict, not at the level of politicians and military leaders, but as a foot soldier, with no authority other than his own personal commitment.

In Palacios's own words: "It is war from the soldier's point of view where disasters, lice and cold follow one another, with everyday anecdotes, at low altitude. They are sad people, without moments of heroism, forced to do things they did not seek".
