Eloy. Río Manzanares & Uno entre muchos

Art by: Antonio Hernández Palacios

Written by: Antonio Hernández Palacios

The two first adventures of Eloy, a character created by Antonio Hernández Palacios, which focuses on the life experiences of the soldiers who fought in the Spanish Civil War.

Palacios describes with journalistic precision, almost documentary-like, the comings and goings of the Republican troops during the period of the Civil War between September 1936 and the end of November of the same year.

The author  himself lived through those episodes. we feel almost first-hand the exhaustion, fear, anger and, above all, the disorientation that a war like that caused to the soldiers on both sides.

Key points:

  • A powerful story coming from the atmosphere lived and recreated by the author

  • Presence of historical figures who actively participated in the battles such as Enrique Lister, Hans Khale, Emilio Kleber,  Dolores Ibarruri ‘La Pasionaria’, the poet Rafael Alberti, or the anarchist leader Buenaventura Durruti

  • Dark and bold illustrations full of details, focusing on expressions that never distract from the main action, contribute to the authenticity of the story
