The Battle of Simancas
Art by: Raúlo Cáceres
Written by: Rafael Jiménez
The day turned to night and the sky darkened. Men prayed to their God and fear chilled their souls. Each side took the eclipse as a bad omen. Thus began the battle of Simancas, which would pit the Christian coalition, under the command of Ramiro II, against the all-powerful Caliph Abderramán III, who led an army of over one hundred thousand men.
It was a battle that would decide the existence of the northern kingdoms on the peninsula.
