Teruel. The Frozen Fight
Art by: Eneko Tabernilla
Written by: Eneko Tabernilla
December 1937. After losing the north, the Spanish Republic needs to make a decisive move to change the course of the war. That move will be an offensive on Teruel, where two armies at the height of their operational capabilities will battle for control of the capital of Turia. Three months that will keep an entire country on tenterhooks. Three months in which two hundred thousand soldiers will fight in the midst of one of the worst winters of the 20th century, amid the snow and ruins of a city that demanded sacrifice from anyone who wanted to take it.
This is the story of that battle, the story of those men who, for different reasons and by different paths, ended up in Teruel; a city that, for those poor wretches, existed.
