On the other side of the track

Written by: Rut Pedreño
The city where Ana lives is divided by railway tracks, and Ana has always lived on “the other side”. What was once farmland far from the city has now become just another neighbourhood. However, to get there, you still have to cross the darkness of a tunnel, and the stigma of violence and poverty has not been erased.
Ana discovers that the park where she always used to meet her friends was used as an execution site during the Spanish Civil War. The remnants of this great historical event must nevertheless coexist with her daily life as a young woman, society's view of her body and sexuality, and her desire to come out.
With this graphic novel, Pedreño makes the neighbourhood the protagonist, intertwining historical memory, personal memories and the present.
Key points:
A reflection on identity and self-acceptance
The history of a neighbourhood told from different moments and perspectives
