Goya. Saturnalia

Art by: Manuel Romero

Written by: Manuel Gutiérrez

During the saturnales, slaves were freed from their obligations. At the age of seventy- three, Francisco de Goya moved to the Quinta del Sordo, an estate on the outskirts of Madrid, where he produced the most personal and enigmatic works of his life, the so- called Black Paintings.

Within these walls, Goya would change his vision of painting and plant the seed that would shape the future of art.
