The Flanders series is a historical comic book tetralogy.

Summer 1566. An unprecedented crisis erupts in the Spanish Crown’s territories in northern Europe. The Flemish nobility is doing everything in its power to secure permission for the people of Flanders to practise the Calvinist faith and is calling for the abolition of the Inquisition. The regent Margaret of Parma attempts to mediate, but finds herself caught up in the chaos of the rebellion and calls upon King Philip II for help. During this period, iconoclasm—the destruction of religious images—begins in various sacred sites across Flanders. A dangerous revolt which the Spanish Court, after much deliberation and diplomatic intrigue, will quell by sending a powerful army from northern Italy to Flanders under the command of Fernando Álvarez de Toledo, the Duke of Alba.

Thus begins the legend of this Spanish military commander, both admired and reviled, who marched across Europe along the famous Spanish Route to restore order in those uprisings with an iron fist.

Flanders 1566-1573: Rebellion and Order, focuses on the roots of the Calvinist revolt and the 1566 crisis.
Flanders 1566-1573: Order and Punishment covers the arrival of the Duke of Alba and the establishment of strict rule.

Flanders 1566-1573: Punishment and War details the intensification of military operations against the rebels.
Flanders 1566-1573: War and Chaos analyzes the political and military exhaustion leading up to the event of 1573.
